Rony is a Research Assistant at the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress (CSTS). She graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) in May 2023 with a B.A. in psychology. As an undergraduate, Rony worked as a Data Coordinator for the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center under the guidance of Dr. Deanne Kelly. There, she conducted data analyses on the usage of machine learning techniques for suicide prevention in suicidal, depressed, and/or schizophrenic populations. Rony currently serves as a Research Assistant in the Family Adversity Lab at UMBC. In her role, Rony has gained experience scoring diagnostic interviews utilizing the PSSI-5 and SCID. Rony previously worked as a Clinical Support Staff at Key Point Health and Services where she provided peer mentoring to clients struggling with mental health issues. Rony previously interned at Urban Trauma Counseling (UTC) where she authored mental health related blog posts for the UTC blog. Rony’s experiences have influenced her interests in conducting research on coping and resilience in populations with PTSD. Rony plans to pursue a PhD in clinical psychology with hopes to contribute to the research and clinical field of traumatic stress.
