Department of Psychiatry
Uniformed Services University

Amila is a Study Coordinator at the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress (CSTS). She graduated from Saint Louis University in May 2020 with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Philosophy. While at SLU, Amila assisted in Dr. Tony Buchanan’s Cognitive Neuroscience of Stress Lab examining how stress impacts older adults in performing basic tasks and engagement in risky decision-making. After graduating, Amila began her role as a Professional Rater at Washington University in St. Louis working on the Collaborative Studies on the Genetics of Alcoholism (COGA) study in an effort to identify genes that can influence the likelihood of alcohol dependence. Amila’s past experiences have shaped her research interests as she is fascinated by observing substance abuse effects on risky decision-making through a cognitive neuroscience lens.
